About a year ago my friends and I drove 3 hours North East of San Diego to the great lake Salton Sea. It is a beautiful and deserted area, the shoreline is made entirely of bleached fish bones. The horizon line stretches into the distance so far that the sky becomes omnipresent. I appreciate the quiet pastel colors of the desert and sought to capture its expansive feeling. I just finished showing this piece at the Gowanus Ballroom in Brooklyn and I sadly had to break it down and roll the canvas up to store it. If you know of a large wall that could use a desert landscape… let me know.
