I posted a broad conceptual outline of the Busines of Art mentoring program on the San Diego Finishing School site a few days ago, and wanted to post a quick update of what Jessica and I have gotten done together so far in fulfilling the plan.
I have obviously been doing the writing about the project in order to allow Jessica to paint as much as possible in preparation for the show. We dialed in Jessica’s Consumerist Series concept at the studio visit last earlier this month based on work Jessica has been developing for a while. Her painting since has focussed on developing some of the “nook and cranny” parts of the idea, and yesterday I was happy to receive four new watercolors that round out her booth space nicely.
Identifying and curating a coherent body of work for presentation is the first step of the mentoring program and Jessica has risen to both understanding and fulfilling this concept beautifully.
If you’re reading this, you’re already using her website to follow her work, another short term goal of the program fulfilled. We’ve just updated the galleries with images of Jessica’s newest work and also some of her very first drawing and painting projects, so be sure to check out the Galleries page here if you haven’t already!
